Premadasa Marasinha

The Wye Valley Tsunami fund, together with other charity organisations, has been supporting the Sambodhi School in Galle since the tsunami in December 2004.

Premadasa is an English teacher who has dedicated his life to the purpose of improving the quality of life of all the students at the school. He is an honest and trusted friend of Kelvin and Sally Doble.

Premadasa Marasinha has 40 years experience at the Sambodhi Home because at the age of 7 he was also a resident of the home. During that time he has made several attempts to contact the two volunteer workers who inspired him to learn English. We hope that by putting this short story on our web site – it will be found by someone who can help him contact his lost friends.

They are Dick and Diane of the Peace Corps in America; they worked at Sambodhi Home from 1967 – 1969. Premadasa Marasinha would like to contact these kind people to say Thank you for your help during those lonely years of his life.

Premadasa has now embarked on a new project at Sambodhi. The school has a unit for children affected by autism. If you or any of your friends can offer advise or help on this subject, Premadasa can be contacted on premadasamarasinha@yahoo.com and if anyone reading this story has any information regarding Dick and Diane of the Peace Corps in America – please contact Premadasa on the above email.
