About Unawatuna

Sri Lanka Beach
Beach scene

Paradise?

Unawatuna is situated about 5km south of Galle on the south west coast of Sri Lanka .

The curved sandy beach provides a haven for beach bums, the crystal clear water is safe for swimming and it is protected by the reef just off shore.

Many interesting walks may be taken along the coast and inland up through the jungle on the hill side.

The village is home to fisherman, wood carvers, but derives its main income from tourists. There are hotels guest houses bars and restaurants some of which have re opened following the tsunami. All the business desperately needs tourists to return.

Those that do will be treated to a fantastically warm welcome and given an experience never to be forgotten.
