Asha and the Honey Man

Sri Lanka Beach
Asha & Honeyman's Shop

The Village Store

Asha is the girl that Sally was asked to write to (by Roy her cousin and our room boy) following our first visit in February 2003. She has written at least once a month since then. We have become very friendly with her family especially her mother who is nearer our own age!!

Asha is 25 and engaged to Wasantha (the Honey Man) and they are going to be married in February 2005. Wasantha owns a hardware shop in Galle that was totally wrecked the wave. He arranged for his vehicle to take Sally and I on the 7 hours journey back to Colombo.

He needs help to rebuild his business and his life. He is about to get married and has lost is livelihood. Any help we can give will enable him to rebuild his shop and re stock. The people in Galle will need shops like Wasantha’s to buy the necessities of life.
