Why the fund was set up

The British Public’s response to the disaster was unprecedented, but on our return home, our friends approached us and asked us how they could help. They wanted to ensure that any donations that they gave would be used to help people to whom they could relate and receive some feedback as to how those people’s lives improved in time.

Sally and Kelvin planned to return to Sri Lanka in March 2005 and both gave their unreserved commitment that this would happen.

To this end, the villages of Whitebrook and LLandago have joined forces and set up the Wye Valley Tsunami Fund to organize events to raise money. The fund will be administered by three villagers.

We are only a small organisation but fully committed to helping Sri Lanka . Every penny raised is used to directly help, funds can be made available quickly to those that most need them. This has huge advantages over larger organisations with equally large overheads
